Dr. Corena is licensed in the state of California as a Clinical Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist. He has many years of experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in multiple settings. He is an expert on conducing assessments and writing professional reports for immigration cases including provisional waivers (I601A), Uvisas, VAWAS, Political Asylums, and Medical Certifications (N-648).  

 

Dr. Corena is the founder of community-based agencies where he is the clinical director organizing and directing supervision, trainings, community events, and management tasks. This education, training, and experience has provided the foundation for his clinical work: deep understanding of the problem and underlying issues, accurate assessment/diagnosis, and effective treatment planning using evidence-based treatment practices, e.g. cognitive behavior therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused, Trauma-Focused CBT, and structural family therapy (multiple trainings and certifications in assessment and treatment modalities).

Additionally, and most importantly, due to his own personal experiences of past trauma, extreme adversities, rehabilitation process, and life transformation phases, Dr. Corena has a unique quality of understanding and identifying with his client's pain and suffering while providing the support and guidance to improve or overcome their distressing situations.
